John Williams’s music for Star Wars is now celebrating its 20th anniversary with a re-release, backed by a luxuriously packaged double-CD recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra in sparkling form. The booklet talks at length about Williams’s Wagnerian approach to themes, and stress the ‘archive’ importance of having all five takes of the main title music; I simply enjoy its vigour and freshness.
