Welcome to the July issue of the BBC Music Magazine podcast. This month we’re celebrating all things Proms! We discuss the Proms we’re particularly looking forward to in this year’s season, from a Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra double concert to a Prom curated by Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood. Also this month, we discuss the various new conductor appointments in orchestras across the globe.

We listen to this month’s Recording of the Month, violinist Rachel Podger’s new disc of Bach Cello Suites, and discuss the news that the 2019/20 cohort of BBC New Generation Artists have been announced.

As always, we each bring along the new recordings from the classical music world that have taken our fancy, including BBC Young Musician winner Martin James Bartlett’s debut album, a new disc of saxophone works by Amy Dickson and a selection of Janáček piano works by Jan Bartoš.
