Alexandra Wilson is a musicologist and cultural historian, specialising in Italian opera and operatic culture from the 19th century to present day. She is a professor of music and cultural history at Oxford Brooks University and a regular opera critic for BBC Music Magazine. She has written and published books including 'The Puccini Problem: Opera, Nationalism and Modernity' (Cambridge University Press), 'Opera: A Beginner's Guide' (Oneworld), 'Opera in the Jazz Age: Cultural Politics in 1920s Britain' (Oxford University Press) and 'Puccini's La bohème' (Oxford University Press).
